Privacy policy
No accounts, no mailing list, nothing sold. What we collect, what we do not, and who else is involved.
Stitch & Selvage has no accounts, no logins and no shopping cart. We do not sell personal information. The only data we handle directly is what you type into the contact form, and the only automated collection is anonymous analytics and the affiliate tracking that funds the site.

Who we are
Stitch & Selvage is a publication about sewing machines and sewing equipment, published by Slate Mill Group. You can reach us at info@stitchandselvage.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
If you use the contact form we receive the name, email address, optional subject and message you submit. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell it, and we do not pass it to any third party other than the email provider that delivers the message.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which buy buttons are clicked, in aggregate. It sets cookies and collects device and approximate location data. We do not use it to identify individuals and we have no interest in doing so.
- Affiliate tracking. When you click a buy button, the retailer — Amazon — sets its own cookie so it can attribute a resulting purchase to us. That cookie belongs to Amazon and is governed by Amazon's own privacy policy, not ours.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information, including IP address, for security and reliability. We do not analyze these logs for marketing.
- Contact form rate limiting. Our contact form counts submissions per IP address in memory for one hour, to stop automated spam. It is not stored, not logged, and disappears when the server restarts.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
- We do not run a newsletter, so we do not hold a mailing list.
- We do not have user accounts, so there is no password to lose.
- We do not use behavioral advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
- We do not require you to accept anything in order to read the site.
Third parties
Every third party that receives data as a result of your visit.
Each of those has its own privacy policy, which governs what it does with the data it receives.
Cookies
The site itself sets no cookies of its own. Cookies you may receive come from Google Analytics and, on click-through, from Amazon. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works perfectly well without them, and nothing on it is gated.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Since the only personal information we hold is contact form messages, in practice this means asking us to delete a message you sent. Email info@stitchandselvage.com and we will action it.
For analytics data, Google provides its own opt-out browser add-on. For affiliate cookies, clearing cookies in your browser removes them.
Retention
Contact form messages are kept in the receiving mailbox for as long as they are useful for correspondence and then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' own retention settings. Server logs are retained by our host under its own policy.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is material — for example, adding a third party that receives data — we will say what changed rather than quietly editing.
